Konde Marathon, held on June 28, 2025, to raise funds to purchase medical equipment for the new church hospital called Konde Hospital and Diakonia Center.

The city of Mbeya witnessed a major historical event after the first Konde Marathon 2025 was held, which had the main goal of raising funds to support health services through Konde Hospital and the Diaconate Center located in Sae, in Mbeya.
The marathon, organized by Konde Sports Promotion Co. Ltd in collaboration with the Konde Diocese Electoral Commission, brought together participants of various ages and groups from within and outside the country. Participants took part in different race distances: 21km, 10km, 5km and 2km, with the children's and people with disabilities races receiving a special response from the community.
According to the organizers, more than 800 participants registered to participate in this event. In addition, the eye services that accompanied this marathon benefited more than 400 citizens, who had their eyes checked and others received assistance with glasses and initial treatment.
Speaking at the event, the Bishop of the Ecclesiastical and Religious Council of Konde Diocese, His Eminence Geoffrey Samuel Mwakihaba , said that this race was not just about sports but also a symbol of solidarity and social cooperation to support the health and well-being of the people. “Through the Konde Marathon, we have learned that social solidarity can be a bridge to bring hope and a better life for everyone,” said the Bishop.
Government leaders, the regional athletics association, and various stakeholders attended and participated in the preparations and success of the race. Security was maintained with the help of police, health teams, and thousands of fans who gathered to support the participants.
The race winners were awarded various prizes according to the race levels they participated in, with the grand prize for the 21-kilometer winners reaching up to Tsh. 800,000/= .
Konde Marathon 2025 has left a unique mark in the history of sports in Mbeya region, and organizers have promised to continue this race every year, with various social and spiritual goals.
